We now have ALL levels of council approval in place, and we’re ready to build! Longridge estimate that the next part of their internal process takes about 5 weeks (going to site supervisor, organising the contractors, etc), and that we can expect a start on site somewhere thereafter!

We now have 2 x 22,000L water tanks!! They used to be a cream colour, but are now a lovely mud brown thanks to all the rain on the day of delivery.

In other news, we have another “final plan” revision about to be sent to us as the existing plan contains too few smoke alarms to get through council approval! We have more smoke alarms going in with the CBus system, but these aren’t included on the electrical plan through the builders. Moonlight Electrical are doing all of the electrical supply and fit, so it shouldn’t change the cost to us… It just means that the builders charge us for their cheaper version, the cost is deducted from the electrical costs (which are charged separately), and the one that we want (hooked in to the CBus) is installed. Changes who we pay rather than what. I hope!

We took the opportunity to ask the builders about access to their concreting contractors before works commence. The tanks need to be placed on a concrete slab, and the easiest way to get this done is to have the slab poured as an extension to the house slab, and get it all done at once. The concrete contractors have not yet been selected, so we need to contact the builders again in about three weeks to follow up on this. We have already placed a reminder on google calendar!!

They have also reiterated an expected start date of 7-8 weeks from now =)

Now we just need a roof to collect water from.
