Hi Charles, thanks for your support =)

Yes, you can back date posts. Honestly, I think there has been far too much crap, far too many posts in here for anyone to waste their time going back and editing them all to update our story after the fact. Not to mention most of this is backed up on the homeone forums which I don't have access to backdate, so we really can prove the order of events up to a "he said, she said" point...

As another poster has mentioned in this blog, when they queried Longridge about behaviours towards us they were told "there are two sides to every story and you shouldn't believe everything you read".

Again... Honestly? I have nothing to gain from this. No reason to lie about what we have been through. In fact, I have held back on a lot of events based on defamation laws - what has been written in this blog is the extremely tame version of many events. I think our experience would have been VERY different with a different site supervisor.

We started out so excited and happy about our choices and our beautiful new home. Our experience with these builders leaves me just wishing I didn't have to move into it at all. Short of walking out on my family, I really have no choice... I hate that I feel this way.

What bastards... but a thought.. you have documented the whole thing on here as it has been happening. Could this be used as "evidence"? I guess technically it would be possible to back date blog posts but surely it must be of some use?

Hi Alison,

TBH, there is absolutely NO WAY IN HELL that I would recommend building through these guys. The finished product is really quite beautiful, but the treatment at the hands of the SS had been utterly deplorable, much of it not spoken of in this blog due to defamation laws. Having said that, I think if you're willing to pander to his will from the very start you probably wouldn't have any problem. Free thinking is obviously to be discouraged.

Honestly? If doing this again I would look at Dechellis. They do a very similar quality product, similar cost, and everybody that I have known building with them have said it is an absolute pleasure. Or contact Marco Bastelli (he was our Longridge sales consultant but has since left), at Adelaide Designer Homes.

I feel so sad that this is the state of the relationship.. It is very easy for them to say that there are two sides to every story. Our problem started from the water around the slab back in September, and a grudge seems to have existed since we queried the actions (or lack thereof) at this time. Things seem ok at the moment, but I can't condone what has occurred in the past. I've always maintained that money can't buy respect, but for what we've paid for this house it should have afforded us a little common courtesy that has been sorely lacking from certain parties.

Cheers,
Kelly

I am moving back to Adelaide from Qld within the next few months and wanted a hebel house. Found Longridge, loved the Easton 160.
Phoned and referred to this site and was told there are always 2 sides to every story (or is that storey?).
Have been assured that all problems with SS and trades have been resolved and they want my business. I love their finished product, but I don't think I can put myself thru the whole debacle, having done it with Jennings once before.
There has been a reasonable person "assigned" to my emails and all sounds rosy - but I just don't have the spunk required.
Love your colours and choices.
Good luck.

Yes!! We love it =) I think that the new basmati works better with our selections than the old basmati - they grey flecks really match the floor tiles beautifully!! They did us a wonderful service by changing it =)

Charles - it was probably months - it was done on the 16th of December. I'm beyond frustrated, but there's very little that I can do about it. They say "it will be fixed shortly", and short of them trying to give us handover with this thing still outstanding I have no option but to wait and see how shortly that shortly may be!

I greatly appreciate all comments of support - they should just get it done. If they attempt a fix and it doesn't look right then they will need to deal with a replacement. Handover will not happen until we are happy with the window.

I remember reading about the burn on the window sill on this blogs weeks (maybe months) ago. It still hasn't been fixed? Poor form by the builder.

They do something stupid like that, they should replace it. I would not accept a touch up on the window. I would definitely put my foot down on that one. As you said why should your daughter have a window like that from someones yucky habit! As if Longridge would not replace it when they know that it was one of there contractors. It also shows how thoughtful Longridge isn't. You pay for this product I would not accept a fix it when it isnt your fault. If Longridge is reading this, replace the window.

Luckily you are making better progress than we did in the 'slow down' period - from the flushing of the gyprock we went 9 weeks without a tradesperson or supervisor on site. As for your window replacement: damage done to a hebel panel on the front of our house in August (by their bobcat contractor) was looked at about a week before handover in December .... and 18 months later, we are still waiting for reimbursement of costs for damage done to our temporary fence (which incidentally is listed as an 'item to be addressed' in our pre-inspection handover documentation - kind of shows you what that is worth doesn't it?)

Here's hoping things happen more efficiently for you :)
